Anthropic will build new data centers in New York and Texas with a $50 billion investment, which will power Anthropic’s AI products and support future innovation. The project is estimated to create 2,400 construction jobs and 800 permanent positions. The project highlights the growing role of AI infrastructure in driving U.S. economic growth.

As reported by AdvancedManufacturing.org:

Working with AI infrastructure company Fluidstack, the custom-built data centers will create 2,400 construction jobs and 800 permanent positions, Anthropic said.

In a statement, Anthropic co-founder and CEO Dario Amodei said the company needs the centers’ capacity to deliver on AI’s potential.

“We’re getting closer to AI that can accelerate scientific discovery and help solve complex problems in ways that weren’t possible before,” Amodei said. “Realizing that potential requires infrastructure that can support continued development at the frontier. These sites will help us build more capable AI systems that can drive those breakthroughs while creating American jobs.”

Anthropic’s announcement comes shortly after OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, and Amazon signed a $38 billion agreement that lets OpenAI use Amazon’s U.S. data centers to power its products.

The AI industry is desperate to add computing power to its platforms. According to consulting firm McKinsey & Co., the overall industry will need to invest $5.2 trillion by 2030 to meet expected worldwide AI demand.
