Job opening rates are down 5.6 percent nationally since last year, according to new data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics this month.

At the state level, rates varied. District of Columbia stands out as the state with highest increase in job opening rate:

On the other hand, most of the states saw modest rate decreases, with Hawaii as the top state lagging behind.
